– Susan Doherty, Author, Monday Rent Boy
“Guaranteed, you have never read a book like Edisson and Jeremiah, and you’ve never met the unique cast of characters who populate these pages. But the novel’s greatness lies in how an ingenious plot reveals truths about our troubled times. Michael Carin takes readers on a mesmerizing journey into the soul of contemporary America.”
– Tod Hoffman, Author, Le Carré’s Landscape
“What will be the ultimate salvation of humanity? Is it in the intervention of science or the wholly unexpected natural evolution of humanity itself? In his provocative new novel, Edisson and Jeremiah, Michael Carin raises many questions. Who is Edisson, and what is the secret behind his prodigious mental capacity? We are led through the twists and turns of this labyrinthine tale and discover the redemptive powers of empathy, tolerance, love and the ultimate triumph of good. It is a hopeful story at a time when hope is what we need.”
– S.L. Sparling, Author, The Glass Mountain
“An astonishing, satisfying read, Edisson and Jeremiah is by turns rollicking good fun, deeply moving and profound. This is author Michael Carin at his very best. The novel is a compelling tour de force sure to make readers look at life – and human connections – in a new way.”
– Monique Polak, prizewinning author of 34 books for young readers including What World is Left and Remember This: The Fascinating World of Memory
“Only connect, was Forster’s nutshell advice to novelists – and fourteen year-old magician Edisson, inspired by Houdini, connects. Veteran novelist Michael Carin strikes again in this visionary tale couched in enlightenment ideals of science and reason, offering a way out of the dystopia now threatening to engulf us all. This panorama of the modern-day U.S.A. could qualify as the great American novel, if only the author didn’t reveal his true and treasured nationality through his understanding of the game of hockey.”
– David Tacium, Author, Taking Down the Golden Boy
“Michael Carin is an ambitious storyteller, a virtuoso of sweeping tales. From drug smuggling in Five Hundred Keys, to taking on the validity of modern art in The Neutron Picasso, to offering an alternate history in Churchill at Munich, Carin is at his best in controversial spaces. Edisson and Jeremiah is no different, taking on magic, human connection and big ideas in a current and future world. Carin’s writing sparkles with wit and humour, tight dialogue and a fierce intelligence. In Edisson and Jeremiah, he is at the top of his game.”

The Author

A former journalist and magazine editor, Michael Carin is the author of several novels including Five Hundred Keys and Churchill At Munich (winner of the Whistler Independent Book Award for fiction). His non-fiction response to the Holocaust, The Future Jew, won him wide recognition as a provocative secular humanist. Mr. Carin’s regard for the values enshrined in the American constitution obliged him to write Guilty Men, an indictment of those responsible for enabling the election of a Manhattan mountebank to the presidency of the United States. His book, The Kremlin Papers, traces Russian influence over that American president from the perspective of his Kremlin overseers. Mr. Carin’s satirical novel, The Anti-Trump, lampoons the mountebank’s 2016 presidential campaign. Most recently, in the novel Edisson and Jeremiah (winner of the Guernica Prize), Mr. Carin posits the story of history’s most controversial magic show – while laying bare the pathological duality of American culture.
